Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about Libraa, your Rekordbox or Serato library and your USB drives.

Libraa

What is Libraa?

Libraa is an app for DJs that connects to your Rekordbox or Serato library so you can listen to it, organise it and prepare your USB drives. It is a real player for your whole collection and a file manager that keeps your DJ software up to date.

Can I keep using Rekordbox or Serato alongside Libraa?

Yes, that is the idea. Libraa works inside your existing library, so everything you do in Libraa is there in your DJ software. Libraa writes to the library while your DJ software is closed and resumes automatically as soon as you close it.

Do my files stay on my computer?

Yes. Libraa runs entirely locally: your music and your library stay on your own drives. Before any change to your Rekordbox library, Libraa makes a backup.

Which systems does Libraa run on?

Libraa is a native app for macOS 10.15 Catalina and later (Intel and Apple Silicon) and for Windows 11. Updates install automatically.

Rekordbox & Serato

Does Libraa work with Rekordbox?

Yes. Libraa reads your Rekordbox library (versions 6 and 7) directly: tracks, playlists and folders. Playlists you create or edit in Libraa show up in Rekordbox, in the same order.

Does Libraa work with Serato?

Yes. Libraa reads your Serato library and crates, including libraries on an external drive. Drop a file into your watch folder: Libraa files it, analyses it and adds it to the right crate, in a single step.

Does Libraa analyse my tracks?

Yes. Libraa computes the BPM, beatgrid and waveforms of every new track, in under a second per track, and stores them in your DJ library. Your tracks are ready to mix as soon as they reach the drive.

USB drives & players

How do I prepare a USB drive for CDJs without opening Rekordbox?

Plug in the drive, tick your playlists and start the sync. Libraa writes the drive in Rekordbox format, with waveforms, beatgrids and artwork, ready to play on the decks. Later syncs copy only what changed and take a few seconds.

Which players has Libraa been tested on?

Drives prepared by Libraa are tested on classic Pioneer DJ models such as the CDJ-900 and CDJ-2000, and on recent AlphaTheta models such as the XDJ-AZ and CDJ-3000X. Libraa writes both library formats, Device Library and OneLibrary, so the same drive works across player generations.

Which format should my USB drive use?

FAT32 is read by every player, from the CDJ-900 and CDJ-2000 to recent AlphaTheta models. exFAT suits recent models such as the CDJ-3000X and XDJ-AZ. Libraa shows the drive's format and warns you when older players won't be able to read it.

Will all my audio files play on CDJs?

Libraa copies MP3, AAC, WAV and AIFF files, which every CDJ reads. Apple Lossless (ALAC) files play on NXS2 players and later: Libraa lists them at the end of the sync so you know exactly what is on the drive.

Can I listen to my playlists elsewhere, in the car for example?

Yes. Raw export copies your playlists to a plain USB drive: one folder per playlist, files numbered in order. It is the exact version you play in the club, readable by any car stereo or player.
